This program is sponsored by the Hampstead Cable Committee.

Join Kristen Dettoni, artist, designer, business owner, and spy (sort of), as she discusses her inspiration behind her cryptology designs and artwork with hidden meaning. Learn about fiber art, how it was created, and the techniques she uses to create messages.

Kristen's work will be on display in the second floor meeting room during September and October.

Some of Kristen's work was inspired by the book The Woman Who Smashed Codes by Jason Fagone, which our Nonfiction Book Group will be reading and discussing on Tuesday, October 7th at 1pm (all are welcome to join!).

About Kristen Dettoni:

Kristen Dettoni is an accomplished artist and textile designer living in southern New Hampshire. She received her BFA from Kansas City Art Institute and her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She spent most of her career working at textile mills, designing patterns for woven fabrics. She loves the challenge of coming up with new ideas and working in a variety of mediums. Kristen developed the first sustainable upholstery woven fabrics for office furniture and automotive interiors, and was awarded a patent for automotive suspension seating. She is the recipient of the 2020 HIP Award and Metropolis Likes for her patterned Cryptology collection and has received several juried awards for her artwork based on cryptology. For Kristen, there is no separation between art and industry. Her creativity is fed by both, working between extreme restrictions and boundless opportunities.
