Join us for a hike through time to celebrate Hampstead's 275th anniversary. This is a repeat of the hike we did on April 20 of this year, with only slight variations.
On this hike, we will explore the three 1700's mill sites along Darby Brook in the eastern conservation land known as the Darby Brook Conservation Area. We will also visit an old farm homestead that has house and barn foundations and an old well hole.
The hike will be about 3 miles with 300' of elevation gain/loss. If participants are interested, there is also the possibility of extending the hike for an extra 0.5 flat miles to visit the famous Plaistow heron rookery and the ""beaver deceivers"" in that area. Sturdy footwear and hiking poles are recommended and we will aim to make it a 2 hour hike.
