The New England Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals, from the giant Pacific octopus to Northern fur seals to little blue penguins. They offer a wide range of exhibits, including a shark and ray touch tank and the Giant Ocean Tank, a four-story coral reef featuring hundreds of Caribbean animals. In addition, they have an IMAX theatre and run whale watch boat excursions in partnership with Boston Harbor Cruises from April through November.

The Peabody Essex Museum grew out of the collection of East India Marine Society, an organization of Salem captains whose charter called for acquisition of “natural and artificial curiosities.” Its permanent collection contains art and artifacts of Africa, Asia, India, China (with a Qing Dynasty house brought from the Huizhou region), Japan, Korea, Pacific Islands, and features objects of maritime art and history that include paintings, drawings, ship models, marine decorative arts, tools, weapons, navigational instruments, and ship and yacht plans. It also has a thriving changing exhibition schedule that sometimes includes important traveling shows.

The Peabody Essex Museum pass admits 2 adults for the reduced admission fee of $12 per person. Youth under 16 years of age are always free. 

There is a separate charge for the Yin Yu Tang house. Access to special ticketed exhibitions may require a separate fee. See the museum's website for calendar details. 

You will receive an email which provides the discount code you need when you book your tickets with the museum. Then visit pem.org/tickets to select the time and day you wish to visit (after entering the code select Library Discount - not General Admission - to use your discount). You will need to create a Peabody Essex account. Check pem.org for their current hours and visiting rules.

Located within Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, NH, the Seacoast Science Center has been providing educational experiences on behalf of New Hampshire State Parks since 1992. The center includes hands-on science exhibits (undersea exploration to marine debris), live animal exhibits which feature creatures that live in the rapidly changing Gulf of Maine ecosystem; and many special events, like “Music-by-the-Sea” concerts and “Sippin' for Seals” (dancing and drinks to support the Marine Mammal rescue Program).

Each pass allows 2 adults and up to 4 children entry into the Center for a 50% discount. Kids up to 2 years of age are always free.

Check the Seacoast Science Center website for the latest information about days & hours open.

Please also note that during their open season (usually April - September) the NH State Parks charge admission at the gate, which Science Center visitors are obligated to pay. The fee at Odiorne is $4 per adult (up to age 65) and $2 per child ages 6-11. This fee is rolled into the Center's online admission reservation system but they are NOT able to reduce it 50% like they do for science center admission. Please note that the library also has a NH State Park Pass program, so you are able to reserve a park pass for the same day as your visit. The museum, a part of the Boston National Historical Park, is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard near the ship USS Constitution (“Old Ironsides”) at the end of Boston’s Freedom Trail. The museum provides a detailed look at the history of the ship, information about the war of 1812, and the battle between the ship and HMS Java. Stories are told through interactive exhibits, unique artifacts, archival records, and artwork. The museum also includes a research library which houses a strong collection of manuscripts, books, artifacts, and microfilm of primary source material. The ship itself is maintained by the US Navy, and may be visited free of charge on certain days.

Museum pass holders must show their pass upon entering to receive free admission. There are no advanced tickets or reservations required for entry.
