Designed by Boston architect Thomas Beal for a prosperous shoe manufacturer, the mansion was completed in 1914 and is an unusual example of Arts and Crafts architecture in New England. The estate, which includes a stable/garage, a greenhouse, gatehouses, farm buildings and a golf course, was eventually opened to the public after a series of bad investments were made by the owner, and the house and contents auctioned off. Visitors may take a self-guided tour of the house as it was in the early 1900s; visit the Art Gallery, and hike. A gift shop and restaurant are on the premises.

Pass Benefits

The NH State Parks Pass entitles admission to all day-use parks for 2 adults and up to 4 dependents. The pass is seasonal. Most parks are open from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend; however, Monadnock State Park is open year-round.

PLEASE PICK UP YOUR PASS AT THE LIBRARY.

The pass is for free admission to all of the day-use parks except the Flume Gorge, Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, Wallis Sands State Beach, Hampton Beach State Park, camping, or parking meters. See nhstateparks.org for more information about parks where pass is valid. A limited supply of park maps is available at the library.

*NH Division of Parks & Recreation recommend you make a day-use reservation for the day you wish to visit. While NH Parks do allow for some walk-in space, most of these spots fill up quickly. To avoid disappointment, they recommend you purchase an advance day-use reservation – even people who qualify for a walk-in space. By making the reservation through ReserveAmerica, the park will hold the spot all day for you so that you can get to the park at your convenience. ReserveAmerica will charges $1 fee, and that money DOES NOT go to NH Parks; it is a maintenance fee the reservation system charges. https://www.nhstateparks.org/planning/day-use-reservations

Pass is funded by the Friends of the Hampstead Public Library.
